Watch Joel Osteen’s amazing story about Elephant and Dog as part of his sermon…

.

I’m so proud of my dog because he listens to me, he guards me all the time,  he cries for me when I leave the house & although this sounds bizarre but true. If ever I’m upset my dog bumps me with his head & let’s me know he’s there.

I’m so proud of my dog because he has turned out priceless to me. Because he is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve had and wouldn’t trade him for all the worldly goods. Because he lets us know when the timer buzzes, or when the mail carrier has arrived and with a different bark if it is a stranger at the door. Because he is a terrific dog and my good friend.

.

God made dogs for us to have as companions and helpers, and for the immeasurable pleasure and happiness they give us. Perhaps it’s a stretch to think that dogs were also meant to teach us about God’s love. With all that dogs mean to us, is that too much to consider?

Without a doubt, time helps heal a wounded heart. Ask anyone who has lost a dog and they’ll likely tell you that while you may never fully recover, the passage of time makes the loss more bearable. Dogs alter their behavior when they mourn much like people do: They may become depressed and listless. They may have a decreased appetite and decline to play. They may sleep more than usual and move more slowly, sulking around. They may sleep more, hide in unusual places, and refuse to play. It’s agonizing to watch a dog through this normal phase of healing.

Obviously, there is something very human about dogs. Is there something very Godlike about us? With all that God created, would it be unreasonable to think that God also made dogs to teach us about his love for us? It seems to me like something God would do.
